Speech Pathology – Clinical Lead – Education and Support (Conjoint)

About the opportunity

This position is a joint appointment between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Health Service, focused on strengthening the link between Speech Pathology education and clinical practice. The role leads the development and coordination of student clinical placements within THS, while contributing to the Master of Speech Pathology program at UTAS to ensure it remains aligned with workforce and service delivery needs. It provides leadership in workforce development, supports supervisors and students, and fosters collaboration between the University and health services to build a sustainable, job-ready Speech Pathology workforce for Tasmania.

The Role

• Lead the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of Speech Pathology student clinical placements within the Tasmanian Health Service
• Work collaboratively with academic staff to support and inform the delivery and development of the Master of Speech Pathology program
• Strengthen alignment between university training and contemporary clinical practice to meet workforce and service priorities
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to clinical educators, supervisors, and students across placement settings
• Act as a key liaison between UTAS and THS, fostering strong partnerships to build workforce capability and capacity

You will need

• Extensive experience delivering contemporary allied health professional services in a range of settings and/or areas of practice including demonstrated understanding of evidenced based practice, clinical governance, clinical risk management, clinical standards, research and ethics.
• Extensive clinical leadership experience with pre-entry students or new graduate allied health professionals and the demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate learning activities, resources and professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant professional competency standards/professional capabilities; professional accreditation standards; contemporary pedagogy; and competency assessments, and their application to pre-entry student placements.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$131,122 to $138,984 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025

Allowances

• Please note that access to salaries beyond $138,984 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

• Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
• Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

• Five or more years post-graduate experience as an allied health professional including experience in supervising and supporting pre-entry students and new graduate allied health professionals
• Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and or clinical teaching and learning
• Current Driver’s licence
