• Galambila Aboriginal Health Service delivers culturally safe, holistic primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Gumbaynggirr Country. Established in 1998, Galambila has grown into a large multidisciplinary service supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community. Services include general medical care, chronic disease management, mental health, allied health, dental, maternal and child health, youth health and a range of outreach and community programs. All programs are delivered in a culturally informed, welcoming and community-driven way.
• Galambila’s work is guided by the values of Compassion, Respect, Empowerment, Inclusivity and Accountability. Governance is provided by a community-elected Board, with daily operations led by the CEO and leadership team to ensure services reflect community needs and aspirations.
• The Clinical Intake Officer provides a culturally safe, responsive and coordinated entry point to Galambila’s Child, Youth & Family Health services. The role undertakes initial clinical screening and assessment of referrals, identifies presenting needs and risks, determines appropriate service pathways and supports children, young people and families to access timely and appropriate care.
• Working as part of the multidisciplinary Child, Youth & Family Health team, the Clinical Intake Officer works closely with Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Family Support Workers, Aboriginal Health Workers and other clinicians to support effective triage, referral allocation and coordinated care. The Clinical Intake Officer will undertake one-on-one clinical interventions and maintain a caseload that aligns to their clinical experience be that social work, counselling or another clinical health discipline.
• The Clinical Intake Officer (Child, Youth & Family Health):

• Undertakes culturally safe, trauma-informed clinical intake, screening and initial assessment of children, young people and families referred to the service.
• •
• Identifies clinical, developmental, psychosocial, family and safety needs and determines the urgency and most appropriate pathway for care.
• •
• Conducts initial risk screening and responds appropriately to child protection, mental health, family violence and other safety concerns.
• •
• Coordinates referrals and allocation to appropriate Child, Youth & Family Health clinicians and services based on presenting needs, risk, eligibility and service capacity.
• •
• Supports children, young people and families to understand available services and navigate internal and external referral pathways.
• •
• Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and external services to promote timely, integrated and culturally safe care.
• •
• Supports own caseload of clients in on-on-one interventions which may at times include family needs based interventions.

• Aboriginality.

• Experience working with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal health services or an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.
• •
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal health, social and emotional wellbeing and culturally safe approaches to engagement and care.
• •
• Knowledge of local child, youth, family, health and community service referral pathways.
• •
• Experience working in multidisciplinary child, youth and family health services.
