Under the direction of the Clinical Nutrition Manager or Chief Clinical Dietitian, the Senior Dietitian provides advanced medical nutrition therapy to patients with complex medical conditions in a large, fast-paced academic healthcare environment. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments, developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans, documenting in the electronic health record, and providing patient and family education.
The Senior Dietitian evaluates and manages therapeutic diets and nutrition interventions, including diagnosing malnutrition, performing Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE), and overseeing enteral and parenteral nutrition support. This role provides care across the full patient population, including NICU, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, and may include responsibilities related to nutrition in public health settings.
Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, medical staff, ancillary departments, and food service personnel, the Senior Dietitian supports coordinated patient care and positive clinical outcomes. The role also participates in departmental meetings, quality and performance improvement initiatives, and completes at least one designated senior-level task as outlined in the job description.
Salary Range: $47.23-$62.32/hr
Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
Maintains active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
In-depth knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).
Skilled in developing patient-specific enteral (EN) and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) plans.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective interdisciplinary teamwork.
Education: Master’s degree with at least 7 years of experience, or 15+ years of relevant experience without a master’s degree.
