Under the direction of the Clinical Nutrition Manager or Chief Clinical Dietitian, the Dietitian Senior is responsible for providing advanced medical nutrition therapy and care to patients with complex medical conditions in a large, fast-paced academic setting. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments, developing individualized care plans, documenting in electronic health records, providing patient education, and implementing and monitoring nutrition interventions. This includes diagnosing malnutrition, conducting Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE), managing therapeutic diets, nutrition education, and enteral/parenteral nutrition. Works with all ages, from patients in the NICU, to pediatrics, adult, and the geriatric patient population.Includes NPH.The Dietitian Senior works collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, medical staff, ancillary staff, and food service personnel.The RD Senior also participates in department activities and meetings, including performance improvement initiatives.Completes one Senior Task (listed within JD).
May also do clinic.
• In good standing with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Strong knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy.
• Proficient in developing enteral (EN) and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) plans tailored to patient-specific clinical needs.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical teams.
• Education: Master’s degree required for minimum 7 years of experience, or minimum 15 years of experience without a master’s degree.
