Job Description

We are looking for a tech-savvy Clinical Informatics & IT Analyst who understands that better data leads to better patient care. You’ll be the bridge between our clinical operations, quality improvement, and technical support by improving documentation processes, building reports, and ensuring the EMR supports safe, efficient, and compliant care delivery. We value hands-on experience and a deep understanding of clinical workflows above all else.

If you know your way around an EHR/EMR and can translate "doctor-speak" into technical requirements, we want to talk to you!

The Clinical Informatics & IT Analyst serves as the primary resource for optimizing clinical workflows, enhancing EMR functionality, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position partners closely with the CNO, Director of Quality & Risk, and clinical leaders to implement workflow improvements, support regulatory readiness, and maintain reliable EMR performance. This position also provides onsite IT troubleshooting and manages communication with the EMR vendor to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Informatics & Workflow Optimization

  • Analyze clinical workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Design, build, and maintain EMR templates, forms, assessments, and documentation tools.
  • Collaborate with nursing, providers, and clinical leadership to implement workflow enhancements.
  • Support documentation improvement initiatives aligned with CMS, Joint Commission, and state requirements.
  • Develop and maintain clinical decision support tools, alerts, and standardized documentation pathways.
  • Provide training and education to staff on EMR updates, workflow changes, and best practices.

Reporting & Data Analytics

  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards for quality, risk, audits, compliance, and operational needs.
  • Support incident investigations and RCA processes by extracting and analyzing relevant EMR data.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting systems.
  • Provide routine and ad‑hoc data analysis to leadership, committees, and regulatory teams.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement through data visualization and analytics.

Technical Support & EMR Administration

  • Serve as the first point of contact for EMR issues, user access needs, and workflow questions.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues; coordinate with external IT vendors as needed.
  • Manage EMR vendor tickets, track progress, escalate delays, and communicate updates to staff.
  • Maintain user permissions, security roles, and system configuration in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Support system upgrades, testing, and validation of new EMR features.

Collaboration & Cross‑Department Support

  • Partner with the Director of Quality & Risk to align EMR workflows with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Support Quality/Risk Coordinator with data needs for investigations, grievances, and compliance monitoring.
  • Work with clinical leadership to ensure workflows support safe and effective patient care.
  • Collaborate with operations, intake, billing, and administrative teams to optimize non‑clinical workflows as needed.
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Required

  • Previous experience working with EMR/EHR systems in a healthcare setting (Epic, HCS, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, documentation processes, and healthcare operations.
  • Proficiency in report building, data analysis, and dashboard creation.
  • Experience with basic IT troubleshooting (hardware, software, networking, printers).
  • Ability to translate clinical needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication, training, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, data security, and healthcare privacy standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric care settings.
  • Prior work in clinical informatics, health information management, or EMR administration.
  • Experience supporting CMS, Joint Commission, or state regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting systems and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Certification in health informatics, data analytics, or related fields.
