Help build B.C.’s new medical school from the ground up!
At Simon Fraser University's School of Medicine (SoM), we envision a medical education system where students and residents learn in person-centred environments as part of a team in primary care and other community-level settings and with a curriculum that considers social, environmental and prevention contexts. As we establish the school in Surrey, B.C., our growing relationships with the local community, divisions of family practice, Fraser Health Authority, First Nations Health Authority, physicians and Indigenous partners will help us to meet the diverse health needs of the communities we serve and improve access to primary care throughout the province. We seek to advance reconciliation by embedding and equalizing Indigenous knowledge systems in our learning, research and practices while resting on a solid foundation of high-quality, accredited education and world-class research efforts that keep us oriented towards measurable socially accountable outcomes.
Clinical Faculty Appointments
TheSchool of Medicine at Simon Fraser University invites applications for Clinical Faculty. Clinical Faculty are primarily engaged in the delivery of skills-based instruction and case-based learning and supervision of medical students, residents and/or fellows in clinical or campus-based settings. Clinical Faculty supervise medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in clinical activities (direct patient care). These activities can take on various forms (e.g., small group discussion seminars, case presentations, simulation labs/clinics, traditional classroom settings, etc.) and be undertaken in various locations including at the University or in hospitals, community clinics or other community settings.
Clinical Faculty are not SFU employees. When they are assigned clinical teaching, they will be compensated according to the stipend rates negotiated with the Ministry of Health and paid through Doctors of BC. Some Clinical Faculty may take on additional responsibilities with the SoM ( e.g., as site directors or clinical leads), in which case they may receive an additional appointment and stipend.
