Job Description

Minimum Hiring Wage:

From $39.37 per hourScheduled Hours: 5:30am - 6:00pm, on call required

A Brief Overview

This position requires that the nurse work providing patient care on a regular basis. Must possess strong communication and time management skills to effectively work with patients, families, physicians, and all other health care disciplines. Responsibilities include but not limited to: effective and efficient utilization of resources through day-to-day operations of the schedule, staff assignments, and staff development. Assists with quality monitoring and the development and implementation of improvement action plans and department project work. Must be a high functioning, independent practitioner able to work closely with leadership on the development of additional services and staff needs. Must be able to function as a resource to the department of nursing for patient related needs. Participation in department staff meetings. Complies with regulatory standards and guidelines related to the patient population utilizing best practice.

What you will do

  • Coordinate daily activities to ensure that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner, while demonstrating accuracy in the scheduling process.
  • Ensure that staff applies primary knowledge while performing assigned tasks to assess the needs of the patient through planning and modifying care as needed.
  • Participate in the monitoring of fiscal operations by recommending changes that could improve services and increase operational efficiency.
  • Enters and edits employee timecards, ensuring accuracy.
  • Proactively identifies safety and quality of care opportunities for improvement and participates in improvement activities.
  • Proficient in all elements of the Cerner documentation and scheduling system. Acts as a resource to others.
  • Investigate complaints about service and equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of staff.
  • Participates in department audits and monitors, while providing feedback as needed.
  • Participate in the hiring and evaluation of new employees.


Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) Associate Degree in nursing (ADN) Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • 4-6 years Experience in area within the last five (5) years Preferred
  • Leadership training and/or experience Preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures competency and comprehension of all regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety and security operations for the protection of people, data, property and company.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Registered Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association Preferred
