SSRRH-Sutter Santa Rosa Reg Hospital
This position works under Sutter Health System Bioethics Leadership to manage all bioethics related issues at their designated hospitals using standardized processes for ethics consultation, policy, education, and organizational ethics. Provides expert analysis and clear guidance on ethical issues. Responsible for receiving and effectively responding to all requests for ethics consultation, documentation, communication, and following up with patient cases after referral. Advises on ethics inquiries from physicians, staff, patients and families using the Sutter Health standardized ethics process for intake, analysis, recommendations, documentation, communication, and follow - up. Educates health care providers, trainees, hospital ethics committee on best practices for dealing with ethical conflicts in patient care. Provides expertise and implements ethics related policies at designated hospitals. Engages in preventive ethics to proactively deal with conflicts and resolution. Participates in hospital rounds and presents at appropriate Sutter Health ethics educational events. Supports hospital ethics committee. Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nursing, care coordination, leadership etc. Role requires adherence with Sutter Health values, policies, standards, and organizational processes.
Job Description:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Doctorate: Ethics or related area.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts and methods of health care ethics consultation and bioethics.
Knowledge of biomedical ethics terms, the bioethics literature, professional standards, methods of case analysis and basic understanding of medical terminology.
Knowledge of California health care law.
Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution to navigate complex patient care situations with ethical issues.
Knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
Strong inter-personal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Pay Range is $123,323.20 to $184,974.40 / annual salary
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
