Robeauté is redefining the future of brain therapies through the first microrobotic platform designed to navigate the human brain with unprecedented precision. This new generation of medical microrobots will be able to diagnose, treat, and monitor the brain from within, overcoming the persistent limitations in treating neurological diseases that affect more than one in three people worldwide.
Since its founding in 2017, Robeauté has filed more than 50 patent applications. We recently raised €27 million in a Series A round led by Plural, Cherry Ventures, Kindred Ventures, and Brainlab, fueling our next phase of growth.
The successful candidate must excel in an energetic, collaborative small-team environment and be able to move seamlessly between medical and engineering cultures. A commitment to high product quality and scientific integrity is essential, along with a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward and the ability to make the work fun and interesting.
The Clinical Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the preclinical and clinical tests of Robeauté’s robotic platform. In particular, they will plan and coordinate clinical testing together with the product team and surgeon collaborators.
This role reports to the Head of Clinical Affairs.
• Define device test protocols with surgeon collaborators and oversee their execution
• Design and run formative and summative usability studies
• Train surgeons to full proficiency on the robot ahead of clinical implementation
• Validate the platform's readiness ahead of each clinical or preclinical use, and document any technical issues
• Oversee installation of the robot in the OR or preclinical test space
• Collect, manage and structure data following each test session
• Author detailed reports based on the data collected from preclinical or clinical use
• Lead surgical procedure training and provide OR oversight for first-in-human and clinical studies
• Productize the surgical procedure and training, creating dedicated documentation, procedures and workflows.
In parallel, the Clinical Engineer will build a detailed understanding of the clinical applications of Robeauté’s robotic platform. They will connect with surgeon collaborators and nurture those relationships over time, growing the surgeon community on a foundation of mutual respect.
The Clinical Engineer will work closely with the technical team responsible for hardware and software design, feeding back what dry lab, preclinical and clinical studies reveal about the robot's performance. This feedback loop directly informs the platform's ongoing development, grounded in real test results.
The Clinical Engineer will also participate in the preparation and submission of research grant applications, and will represent Robeauté and its robotic platform at conferences and within the surgeon community as needed.
Requirements
• Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and/or M.Eng., with equivalent relevant work experience
• Experience preparing and executing medical device testing
• Testing experience across both lab and clinical environments
• Ability to install and repair mechatronic assemblies for testing purposes
• Strong written, verbal and documentation skills in English and French
• Experience with usability testing and human factors
• Solid knowledge of anatomy and physiology, with the ability to build trust and relationships within the surgeon community
• Ability to effectively communicate Robeauté's product and mission to surgeons
• Strong team orientation, combined with the ability to work independently
• Strong interdisciplinary understanding across robotics, electronics and control systems
• Experience with OR and surgical workflows and training is a plus
This role involves regular time in operating rooms and preclinical test environments.
The Clinical Engineer should also be available for clinical and preclinical missions abroad as needed. Robeauté provides travel insurance coverage for international missions.
