Job Description

About This Opportunity

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences welcomes applications for Clinical Educators in Speech Pathology to support the practice education and clinical development of our speech pathology students on a part-year, continuing basis.

We are specifically looking for Speech Pathologists who can deliver:

Position 1: Fluency services across the lifespan and general paediatric speech pathology services in the UQ Clinics delivered via telehealth

Position 2: Paediatric speech pathology services to paediatric and school-aged children either in local schools or in the UQ Clinics

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Practice Education & Student Supervision: Facilitate and supervise speech pathology and interprofessional clinical placements; monitor, assess and support student learning, skill development and clinical performance; and deliver clinical supervision, professional development activities and work integrated learning support.
  • Clinical Practice & Service Delivery: Deliver evidence-based speech pathology services in-person and/or via telehealth, support continuity of care, and provide clinical leadership, guidance and oversight of operational and clinical procedures.
  • Research & Industry Engagement: Contribute to research in clinical practice or practice education, and foster relationships with industry partners, professional bodies, government and the wider community.
  • Administration & Governance: Contribute to clinic and school operations, manage student placement and assessment administration, and maintain compliance with professional, legislative and organisational standards.

Please note, Speech Pathology student-led clinics operate on specific days of the week due to student timetabling. Successful applicants must be available to work on a Thursday commencing January 2027.

As these are part-year appointments, it is expected that planned leave will be taken outside of the primary clinical teaching periods that align with the academic calendar or clinical placement periods. Successful applicants will be required to take a combination of paid and unpaid leave over the November to January period, and during the mid-year break. Please take this into consideration before submitting your application.

About You

  • Qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate/graduate-entry degree in Speech Pathology with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated recency and currency of practice with advanced knowledge and ability to deliver evidence based clinical practice across a range of clinical areas, including telerehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated abilities as an effective educator and communicator in the area of speech pathology practice education such as student supervision, educational evaluation, training and assessment marking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical education issues and blended learning approaches, with the ability to develop and implement innovative clinical teaching methods that enhance students' clinical skills and knowledge development.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the clinical discipline at an interprofessional, university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and autonomously, effectively managing competing priorities and multiple tasks while utilising technology systems and software applications to achieve outcomes.
