Clinical Nurse Educator - Operating Room (OR)

New England Baptist Hospital

We are seeking an inspiring and collaborative OR Clinical Educator to champion professional development, clinical excellence, and safety in our highly specialized Operating Rooms. Essential Responsibilities

OR-Focused Professional Development: Design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs, competency-based modules, and real-time clinical training tailored to the perioperative environment.

Strategic Learning & Assessments: Conduct proactive needs assessments using strategic tools to identify learning gaps, and develop educational plans to ensure staff demonstrate exceptional critical thinking and technical skills in the OR.

Onboarding & Mentorship: Lead unit orientation, product roll-outs, and emergency preparedness training. Act as an accessible mentor on the floor, modeling leadership behavior and fostering a supportive culture of continuous learning.

Evidence-Based Practice & Research: Support the integration of clinical research into daily practice, contributing to nursing research and incorporating the latest evidence-based findings into program development.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with OR managers, the central education team, and educators across disciplines to support hospital-wide initiatives and promote a positive, cohesive working environment.

Quality, Safety, & Policy Leadership: Partner with the Quality and Patient Safety teams to advance regulatory initiatives (including Joint Commission standards). Collaborate on the development and implementation of patient care policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Committee & Council Engagement: Lead and actively engage in councils, committees, and task forces aimed at enhancing patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes (including serving as Chair or Co-Chair).

Requirements & Qualifications

Periop Experience

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): Required.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Preferred.

Licensure & Certifications
MA Registered Nurse (RN) License: Required (Commonwealth of Massachusetts).

BLS & ACLS: Required.

BLS Instructor: Preferred.

Specialty Certifications: CNOR (highly preferred), ONC, or ANPD preferred.

Experience

Clinical Experience: 5+ years of clinical nursing experience preferred (ideally in an OR/perioperative setting).

Educator Experience: Prior experience as a Clinical Educator or in a clinical instructional role preferred.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports staff professional development with activities that include planned and real time educational offerings/support to advance clinical practice, certification, life support/emergency preparedness, JC requirements, product roll-outs, mentoring, etc.
  • Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support those changes.
  • Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.
  • Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools.
  • Design, plan, prepare and present materials for use in educational programs for nursing staff inclusive of competency based learning modules.
  • Accessible to clinicians, and puts education plans in place for staff, monitors completion of staff competencies and education programs.
  • Ensures staff demonstrates sound critical thinking skills in ongoing practice.
  • Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.
  • Supports integration of research into practice, contributes to nursing research and incorporates research findings into program planning.
  • Work collaboratively with education team, managers, interdisciplinary team to support initiatives, central and unit orientation activities and is flexible in meeting needs of department.
  • Works effectively with interdisciplinary team, collaborating with educators from other disciplines. Maintains open and effective communication, resolves issues effectively and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Engages and leads in council, committee and task force work that enhances patient care, outcomes, and satisfaction. Chairs, Co- Chairs Committees.
  • Collaborates with Quality and Patient Safety team to advance regulatory initiatives, quality and patient safety.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the development and implementation of patient care policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of care.
  • Serves as a role model to promote excellence and safety, mentors and models leadership behavior in the professional practice setting

Requirements:

  • BSN, MSN
  • RN License, Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At least 5 years clinical experience preferred. Experience as clinical educator preferred, BLS instructor preferred, BLS and ACLS required, ONC preferred, ANPD preferred, CNORpreferred

Pay Range:

$81,640.00 USD - $210,433.60 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
