Throughonboarding hands-onskillstraining,simulation, coaching, and competency development, theRegionalClinical Educator supports safe practice, staff confidence, and high-quality,person-centredresident care. Thiseducatoralso helps translatepoliciesandbest practicesintoeveryday practice while contributing to the development, evaluation, and expansion of Extendicare’s clinical education program.

The Regional Clinical Educatorroleis a hybrid workingrole, that combines administrative responsibilities(e.g.education content development,scheduling), and frequentin-personeducationacross assignedLTC homes. Regular regional travel isanessential requirement
Key responsibilities include:
Deliverstandardizedonboarding,transition to practice, and on-going clinicalskillseducation to regulated and unregulatedclinical staff
Facilitate engaging, learner-centrededucation through skills labs, simulation, microlearning, bedside coaching, and virtualdeliverywhere applicable
Assess andvalidateclinical competencies through knowledge assessment, return demonstration, and clinical judgment activities.
Develop and adapt lesson plans, facilitator guides, learning resources, and competency assessment tools.
Translate legislation, clinical policies, procedures, and best practices into clear and practicalclinicalskillseducation.
Partner with home and regional leaders toidentifypractice gaps, learning needs, and education priorities.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and follow-up support to strengthen practice and sustain change.
Use learning technologies, virtual platforms, and the learning management system to improve access and learner engagement.
Monitor& trackparticipation, competency completion, learner feedback, and outcomes to evaluate and improve education programs.
Contribute to quality improvement, resident safety, and clinical practice-change initiatives.
Build collaborative relationships across multiple homes and escalate significant education or practice concerns asappropriate
What we’re looking for:
Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standingwith the applicable provincial regulatory college
Minimum 3–5 yearsof clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, geriatrics, or a relatedsetting.
Current BCLSCPR certification.
Experience in clinical educationdelivery, adultlearning,andcompetencydevelopment.
Demonstrated experiencefacilitatinggroup education and applying adult learning principles.
Knowledge of long-term care standards and infection prevention practices.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to the needs of multiple homes.
Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
Familiarity with quality improvement andresidentsafety principles.
Proficiencywith Microsoft Office, virtual learning, and LMS platforms.
Ability to travel regularly across multiple sites.
