Job Description

Organization: Aftermath Engagement: Independent Contractor (1099) Schedule: Part-Time, Flexible Consulting Engagement Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote, with On-Site Availability as Needed Potential Career Path: Opportunity to transition into a permanent, full-time Clinical Director position following program launch Help Build the Clinical Foundation Aftermath is preparing to introduce adult substance use disorder services in Schaumburg, Illinois. Planned services include Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programming. Before the first client enters treatment, Aftermath must build the clinical framework that will guide how services are delivered. We are seeking an Illinois-licensed clinical leader to provide targeted expertise during this important stage of development. This is a focused consulting assignment for someone who understands how Illinois substance use disorder regulations translate into clinical practice. The consultant will help leadership evaluate whether the program’s proposed policies, workflows, documentation, staffing, and treatment structure are ready for licensure and launch. Candidates may be considered solely for this consulting assignment or, if mutually desired, for the permanent Clinical Director position once the facility is ready to begin operations. Your Contribution In this role, you will: • Advise leadership on the clinical implementation of Illinois Part 2060 requirements • Evaluate whether proposed clinical systems support safe and compliant service delivery • Review selected policies, procedures, protocols, and workflows from a clinical perspective • Help ensure that planned Outpatient, IOP, and PHP programming reflects ASAM principles • Review proposed processes for assessment, placement, treatment planning, continued-stay decisions, transition, and discharge • Provide input on clinical staffing qualifications, reporting relationships, and supervision coverage • Identify clinical-readiness gaps that should be resolved before the program opens • Participate in select application, readiness, licensing, or regulatory discussions • Help leadership prepare for questions about how clinical requirements will operate in practice • Provide guidance during the transition from licensing preparation to operational launch This position is advisory and developmental during the pre-opening period. It is not responsible for daily clinical operations before the facility opens. Requirements What You Bring Required Qualifications • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health discipline • Active and unrestricted Illinois LCSW or LCPC license in good standing • At least five years of behavioral health clinical experience • At least two years of clinical supervision, program management, or department-level leadership experience • Direct knowledge of substance use disorder treatment • Experience applying ASAM Criteria to clinical placement or service delivery • Strong working knowledge of clinical documentation, treatment planning, and quality standards • Ability to identify operational risks and recommend practical solutions • Ability to work independently within a consulting engagement • Availability for occasional scheduled meetings or on-site activities in Schaumburg Preferred Qualifications • Experience working within an Illinois Part 2060 licensed organization • Participation in a new facility or service-line launch • Experience developing Outpatient, IOP, or PHP programming • Clinical experience with adult populations • Participation in licensing, accreditation, or payer-readiness reviews • Experience creating or reviewing clinical workflows for a new treatment program Benefits Consulting Compensation Aftermath anticipates a monthly consulting retainer of $1,500 to $2,500, commensurate with the consultant’s experience and qualifications. The engagement is designed to provide focused clinical guidance during the pre-licensure and program-development period. Because licensing activity may vary throughout the process, Aftermath and the consultant will establish priorities based on the organization’s current readiness and regulatory needs. If the scope of the engagement materially changes, Aftermath and the consultant will review and agree upon a revised compensation structure. Potential Transition Following licensure and program launch, Aftermath expects to establish a permanent, full-time Clinical Director position. The launch consultant may be considered for that opportunity, but neither party is required to continue beyond the consulting engagement.

About Atlantic Health Strategies™

You didn’t enter the Behavioral Health space to drown in paperwork, stress over Joint Commission audits, or troubleshoot IT tickets. You did it to help patients and build a successful business.

At Atlantic Health Strategies, we handle the "business of the business" so you can focus on the mission.

We are your full-spectrum behavioral health support partner.

We aren't just consultants who hand you a binder of rules and walk away. We are operators who have sat in your seat. We know that in this industry, Compliance is the spine of your operation, and a strong spine needs muscle (HR) and a nervous system (IT) to function.

We act as your Strategic Anchor, translating complex regulations into clear, profitable business strategies for Founders and Investors.

How we stabilize and grow your organization:

Licensure, Accreditation & Compliance: We speak fluent "regulatory." From De Novo startups to multi-state expansions, we navigate the red tape so you don’t have to. We turn "audit panic" into "audit readiness."

HR Managed Services: Generalist HR firms don’t understand clinical ratios or behavioral health burnout. We do. We manage credentialing, staffing, and culture to keep your team compliant and your retention high.

IT Managed Services: Behavioral Health IT isn't about fixing printers; it's about HIPAA security and EHR integrity. We build secure, compliant tech infrastructures that protect your patient data and your license.

M&A Advisory & Due diligence: Buying or selling? Don’t buy a headache. We perform deep-dive operational audits to ensure the asset is clean, compliant, and ready for growth.

The Atlantic Difference:

We bridge the gap between "Clinical Empathy" and "Business Rigor." Whether you are a Visionary Founder who hates the details or an Investor who needs to mitigate risk, we are the partner that keeps the doors open and the business growing.

Let’s get to work.
