Job Description

The Clinical Director, Pharmacy Services – Oncology Ambulatory is responsible for the strategic, operational, and clinical leadership of oncology pharmacy services across ambulatory settings. This role oversees clinical service delivery, compliance, team development, quality improvement, and innovation in cancer pharmacotherapy, including oral Oncolytics, immunotherapies, cellular and gene therapies.

This position plays a key role in enhancing patient access, advancing value-based care, supporting financial sustainability, and leading institutional efforts in pharmacy-led oncology care transformation. The Clinical Director ensures pharmacy operations align with regulatory standards, clinical best practices, and emerging technologies, and actively collaborates with medical, nursing, and administrative leadership.

  • Lead and develop oncology ambulatory pharmacy services aligned with institutional and cancer service line strategies
  • Design and scale pharmacist-led programs
  • Oversee the implementation and expansion of advanced pharmacy practice models, including Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM)
  • Lead high-impact initiatives including CAR-T and Cellular Therapy Services and Gene Therapy Safety & Monitoring Protocols
  • Provide oversight for ambulatory oncology clinics, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead the development, review and implementation of pharmacy related policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, FDA, NYS DOH, FACT, and Joint Commission standards
  • Ensure proper safeguarding and accountability of hazardous drugs and controlled substances
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and risk mitigation strategies, including staff training, safety audits, and incident reporting
  • Participate in budget development, forecasting, and resource allocation for pharmacy operations
  • Evaluate and apply pharmacoeconomic principles to improve care value and reduce unnecessary costs
  • Establish and monitor clinical performance metrics, service utilization, and pharmacist impact on outcomes
  • Partner with informatics and analytics teams to create dashboards and data-driven improvement plans
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety, pathway adherence, and clinical documentation
  • Mentor and supervise pharmacists, pharmacy managers, residents, and support staff in clinical excellence
  • Provide educational leadership in emerging oncology therapeutics, including gene and cell therapies
  • Education Requirements

    • Graduate from an accredited school of Pharmacy (ACPE)

    • Advanced degree, Graduate of a PGY2 Oncology residency

    • Board certification in Oncology or Sterile Compounding preferred
    • Active NY Registered Pharmacist License in good standing.

    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience in oncology or ambulatory pharmacy services.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and scaling clinical pharmacy services in outpatient or infusion settings.
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and assignments.
    • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a pharmacy team

    Experience Requirements
