Job Description

Lead clinically. Mentor with purpose. Shape the future of emergency veterinary care.

At ARH Greater Western Sydney, we are offering a rare opportunity for an experienced Emergency & Critical Care veterinarian to step into a Clinical Director role that is unapologetically clinical-first

This position is designed for a senior clinician who has honed their emergency expertise and now feels called to develop people, elevate standards, and build a culture of clinical excellence — without stepping away from the work that matters most.

This is not a role focused on rosters, stock, or KPIs.

This is about clinical leadership, mentorship, and meaningful impact

The Role

As Vet Director – ECC, you will be the clinical anchor of our emergency service. Leading from the floor, you will set the standard for patient care while guiding and supporting clinicians at every stage of their development.

Your influence will be felt through:

  • Leading complex ECC cases with confidence, calm, and compassion
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level veterinarians through case review, coaching, and real-time teaching
  • Creating a psychologically safe, high-performing clinical environment
  • Establishing and refining best-practice clinical protocols
  • Shaping the long-term clinical vision of the hospital in partnership with senior leadership

You will collaborate with management on growth and direction, while remaining firmly focused on people, medicine, and outcomes.

The Animal Hospital

ARH Greater Western Sydney is our fifth ARH Specialist and Emergency Hospital, purpose-built to support excellence in emergency and referral care and located in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

You’ll work in a state-of-the-art facility equipped with:

  • IDEXX in-house laboratory suites
  • Phillips ultrasound and Siemens MRI/CT
  • A dedicated ICU and three fully equipped theatres
  • Smartflow workflow management and Pet Ambulance services

You’ll be supported by a highly engaged, values-driven team who are committed to continuous learning and exceptional patient care.

About You

You are an ECC veterinarian who:

  • Holds a veterinary degree registrable in New South Wales
  • Brings 5+ years’ experience in a 24/7 Emergency & Specialty hospital
  • Is clinically confident and respected by peers
  • Finds genuine fulfilment in mentoring, teaching, and developing others
  • Leads with emotional intelligence, clarity, and consistency
  • Is ready to step into a senior clinical leadership role without losing clinical identity

What We Offer

  • A full-time, permanent Vet Director role with a generous salary and benefits package
  • Relocation and visa sponsorship, including pathways to Permanent Residency for you and your family
  • Additional paid parental leave and structured return-to-work programs
  • Fully funded attendance at the Greencross Clinical Conference, with dedicated specialty and leadership streams and connection to a national network of Clinical Directors
  • Your choice of AVA membership or Vet Board registration
  • Uncapped, tailored continuing education aligned to your professional interests and long-term aspirations
  • A role that offers deep professional satisfaction, where your experience directly shapes clinicians, culture, and patient outcomes
