Within the context of a client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Clinical Dietitian, Epilepsy Clinic works in a team based environment providing nutrition care services to clients of the VCH Epilepsy Program for adults through the assessment, planning, implementing and outcome evaluation of nutritional goals and care plans . Utilizes technical and scientific knowledge and proficiency in the area of ketogenic metabolic therapy to perform and monitor nutrition interventions and therapeutic modalities appropriate for the client population. Provides recommendations based on assessment and treatment modalities regarding oral and/or enteral nutrition support regime. Provides guidance and knowledge to clinic staff and other health care professionals across hospital and community settings in the nutritional management of adults with epilepsy and ketogenic metabolic therapy, as needed. Participates in program development and ongoing continuous planning and assessment of treatment protocols and policies for the designated clinical area. QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Two (2) years' recent related clinical experience in outpatient care, neurology, or chronic disease management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Demonstrated ability to provide dietetic assessments and interventions relevant to the designated client group.Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to client /family priorities. Knowledge of nutrition management for epilepsy, including ketogenic metabolic therapy.Broad knowledge of clinical monitoring (labs, metabolic indicators)Knowledge of enteral nutrition.Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.Demonstrated ability to facilitate client /group education classes.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
