Purpose of the Job: To provide Clinical Dietetics Services and evidence-based, patient-centered nutritional care to improve health outcomes of the patients

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive patients’ nutritional status assessments, diagnosis and requirements.
  • Implementing evidence based individualized dietetic care plans for general and critical care patients with various medical and surgical conditions in line with national guidelines and policies
  • Providing guidance in development, implementation and monitoring of individualized nutrition care plans for general and critical care patients with various medical and surgical conditions in line with national guidelines and policies
  • Providing information about treatment options, on dietary related conditions and outcomes
  • Guiding the food service management team in the development of menus that are in line with national hospital catering guidelines and policies.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of district-level nutrition policies and programs.
  • Documenting and maintaining accurate, timely and detailed and up to date patient records related to nutrition and dietetics and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Providing routine individual and group dietary counselling for specific health conditions including Non communicable diseases
  • Working with food service staff to develop menus that are in line with national hospital catering guidelines and policies
  • Conducting quality improvement activities such as CPDs, Audits and supervising the food preparation processes, proper food handling, storage, and sanitation.
  • Conducting operational research and dissemination in nutrition and dietetics to improve clinical practices and patient care.
  • Conducting nutrition and dietetics outreach activities such nutrition screening, assessment, diagnosis and management of dietary related conditions
  • Providing in-service training to healthcare workers on basic nutrition principles and dietary counselling techniques
  • Conducting resource mobilization, managing and accounting for resources provided.
  • Participating in performance appraisal management processes
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

Minimum academic and professional qualifications and experience.

  • BSc in Clinical Dietetics or Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Dietetics from accredited institution.
  • Masters in Dietetics will be an added advantage
  • Registered and in good standing with medical council.
