The Dietetic Technician position offers an opportunity to support a growing Nutrition & Diabetes Services team through a combination of patient coordination, workflow support, nutrition screening activities, and operational assistance. This role works closely with Registered Dietitians and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient access, support chronic disease management initiatives, and enhance overall clinic and inpatient workflow efficiency. The position allows licensed clinical staff to practice at top of scope while providing valuable support across multiple service areas.

The Dietetic Technician role also supports long-term program sustainability by improving operational flexibility and reducing administrative burden on clinical staff. It provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building experience within Nutrition Services while making a meaningful impact on patient care and service coordination in a rural healthcare setting.Evaluates treatments or procedures for effectiveness using an evidence-based approach. Identifies nutritional intervention methods within own specialty. Incorporates new trends and techniques as necessary to design care plan and update standards of care policy manuals and educational material.Assists in tailoring clinical education and associated materials for use with clients/patients, families and caregivers. Performs quality control and maintains a high standard in relation to infection control mechanisms for safety. Aware and conscious of individual's insurance coverage and reimbursement circumstances, and participates in clinical performance improvement activities, including research that tests new treatments or procedures for clinical evidence of outcomes.
Responsible for program development, research, development and maintenance of program materials. Expected to work with various internal team members, physicians, and other internal groups, as well as external partners to develop new protocols and ensure clinical alignment with partnerships. Sphere of clinical practice influences client/patient care, dietitians' competencies, and dietetic practice. Demonstrates leadership by inspiring others to give compassionate care to improve patient outcomes. Provides direct client/patient care and accepts referrals from, consults with, or refers to other healthcare providers in order to promote comprehensive and continuity of care in both primary and specialty practice.
Plans, develops, and provides medical nutrition therapy, and preventive counseling to individuals and groups in all areas of primary and specialty patient care, acute care, skilled nursing, out-patient, and/or community settings. Works on nutrition care protocols for the assigned client/patient area and acts as leader for the health care team in the implementation of the nutrition therapies. Provides nutrition therapy and monitors nutritional care of clients/patients of all ages including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Ability to recognize, evaluates, and provide for nutritional needs based on cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. Incorporates new trends and techniques as necessary to design client/patient care plans and update standards of care policy manuals and educational material. Educates on nutrition plans according to disease state, medical condition and health risk.

Qualifications

Successful completion of an American Dietetic Association program for Dietetic Technicians required.

Must be a member of the American Dietetic Association Northwest District Dietetic Association.
