The Medical Education department based in Naples, Florida is made up of over 20 physicians, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. Arthrex is actively searching for a Medical Education Clinical Content Specialist to join the Medical Education team. The successful candidate will work alongside a department of expert orthopedic healthcare professionals, world class faculty, and product management.

Main Objective:

Provide support and assistance to meet the goals of the Clinical Content Development Team within the Arthrex Department of Medical Affairs. Develop and maintain an expert understanding of understanding of current and classic concepts in cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery and it’s subspecialties (Colorectal, ENT, Surgical Oncology, and others), Arthrex products and procedures, and the science that supports these understandings, to produce digital content for multiple online learning platforms as well as in-person educational formats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of current and classic concepts in general surgery and/or cardiothoracic surgery, the Arthrex product lines, and clinical procedures supported by Arthrex products; be able to articulate and demonstrate these concepts and procedures to Arthrex employees, business partner representatives and healthcare professional customers through online and digital asset production.
  2. Create and develop online educational content for healthcare professionals, students, and patients as well as educational content for a learning management system for Arthrex representative training. This requires a working knowledge in presentation software (i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, PowerPoint) and basic video editing skills required. Intermediate to advanced video editing skills preferred.
  3. Provide clinical input for digital platform design in collaboration with Medical Education Technology and Clinical teams.
  4. Assist with reviewing written and digital material to advise on clinical accuracy of these materials.
  5. Facilitate and maintain pipeline of educational asset needs utilizing multiple software platforms and interactions with Medical Education Clinical teams.
  6. Support the review and creation of digital educational assets for in-person medical education courses.

Skills:

  • Knowledgeable of standard principles of cardiothoracic and/or general surgery is required.
  • Significant knowledge of anatomy from a cardiothoracic and/or general surgery standpoint required.
  • Working knowledge of the use of PowerPoint and other Adobe cloud program types required.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of digital/video creation and editing.
  • Ability to create digital assets that demonstrate basic surgical skills education/training with supervision and direction.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the bio-medical sciences or related fields required.
    • OR–
  • Certification as physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse first assistant, is required.
  • 3-years of experience in surgical experience in cardiothoracic and /or general surgery or one of the major sub-specialties (Surgical sub-specialty examples include: bariatric, thoracic, cardiac, OB/GYN, Colorectal, ENT) is required.

-OR-

  • 1-years of experience employed as an Arthrex clinical content specialist associate is required.
  • Experience as a physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse first assistant working in surgical experience in cardiothoracic and/or general surgery or one of the major sub-specialties (Surgical sub-specialty examples include: bariatric, thoracic, cardiac, OB/GYN, Colorectal, ENT) is preferred.
  • Experience in laparoscopic/endoscopic procedures

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Ability to organize and develop digital training materials is necessary.
  • Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards. General application of concepts and principles.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

  • PCs and have a command of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (video editing), Microsoft Office plus any additional communications equipment as needed.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
