Do you light up when a learner has that "aha" moment? Are you the kind of nurse who sees a gap in practice and immediately thinks about how to fix it? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We have 2 permanent part-time positions available

  • A permanent part-time Clinical Coach (Peri-operative — Scrub/Scout, 0.8 FTE) at Fitzroy which is available to commence mid-late May 2026.
  • A permanent part-time Clinical Coach (Peri-operative — Scrub/Scout, 0.3 FTE) atWerribee which is available tocommencemid-late May 2026.

What you'll be doing (the good stuff!)

  • Inspire and support a diverse mix of learners, from enrolled and registered nurse graduates through to postgraduate students
  • Deliver specialised clinical education that shifts practice for the better
  • Lead competency assessments and keep our standards sharp
  • Spot learning gaps and build creative solutions
  • Design and run targeted in-service sessions to meet the needs of peri-operative nursing
  • Champion a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 3 years' specialised peri-operative (scrub/scout) experience
  • A track record of supporting diverse nursing learners (enrolled & registered nurses)
  • A genuine love of education, mentoring, and innovation
  • Flexibility to travel across sites (if needed)
  • Desirable: Post-graduate qualification in Peri-operative Nursing, Education, and/or Cert IV in Training & Assessment — or working towards it

About The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
