The Clinical Care Assistant (CCA) is a professional nursing student who has completed a minimum of one semester of clinical experience. The CCA provides direct patient care and unit activities under supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN); practices within the Department of Nursing standards; and adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.
Tentative start date is June 8th. Work hours require 32 hours a month as negotiated with the Clinical Services Manager (CSM); with a maximum of 1400 hours in a 12-month floating period.
Salary: $20.00 per hour
Shift Differential: 20% E/N/P and 10% Weekends
Must Work One (1) Major Holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas-Eve or New Year’s
Required:
Must be enrolled in a state-approved RN Nursing school
Must have completed minimum of one (1) semester of Basic Theory/Skills check-off
Must have completed one (1) clinical rotation experience in an accredited school of professional nursing.
Must have CPR Certification (BCLS), or obtain within 3 months of hire into this role
Preferred:
Patient care experience in acute care setting
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Responsibilities:
Acquires initial and ongoing competencies required for specific role: completes initial orientation and ongoing unit-based competencies per standards; completes competencies for new/modified procedures per standards.
Provides care in an efficient and effective manner: organizes own workload to ensure completion during shift, in coordination with RN and other team members; seeks assistance from appropriate staff when necessary;
Utilizes down (unproductive) time toward patient and unit activities;
Accepts constructive feedback from peers/team members and takes corrective action when needed;
Informs RN of patient requests or complaints;
Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients; transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed;
Promptly documents actions related to patient care per standards.
Performs other duties as defined by unit checklist as delegated by RN/Clinical Services Manager (CSM);
