Job Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks Clinical Associates at full-time effort for renewable terms of up to three years. Clinical responsibilities will include primarily operating with the lead robotic surgeon and robotic cardiac team. Appointees will also be expected to take independent call for the Section and to possibly support offsite community practices, such as Northwest Indiana. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications.

Appointees will contribute to patient care and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. The Robotic Cardiac Surgery program at UChicago Medicine is recognized as an international leader in multispectrum and advanced robotic cardiac surgery.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent, and 4) have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in cardiovascular/thoracic (CVT) surgery.
