This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position. Primary duties will include teaching core DPT topics, including neuroscience, movement science, neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal core, physiology, clinical diagnostics, interventions, prosthetics and orthotics, clinical medicine, pharmacology, radiology and pediatrics, evidence-based practice, and ethics. Participation in scholarly research and service activities is expected to comply with CAPTE expectations. Duties also include demonstrating knowledge, skill, and pedagogical expertise to teaching or co-teaching didactic and immersive lab courses related to areas of expertise; having the ability to interact effectively with students, administration, faculty, and staff; ensuring the delivery of curriculum based on evidence, contemporary clinical practice, and CAPTE requirements; establishing and implementing a scholarly agenda; promoting, helping, planning, and participating in community and university service. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

This non-tenure track faculty position supports a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Positions may be filled at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor rank based on qualifications and program needs. Multiple start dates are anticipated to support phased program development, curriculum delivery, laboratory immersion experiences, accreditation activities, and student progression across the eight-semester curriculum. The curriculum combines online instruction with on-campus learning activities.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is currently developing a unique 8-semester Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The program is expected to submit its application for candidacy to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) in the Fall 2027. The mission of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences is to prepare professional healthcare practitioners to improve the well-being of complex and diverse populations.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate for the Clinical Assistant Professor rank must hold a degree in physical therapy (BS, MS, or DPT) from an accredited institution; if that degree is not a DPT, the candidate must have earned or be in the candidacy phase of a terminal academic doctoral degree (e.g. DSc, EdD, PhD) by the start date of employment. Hold or be eligible for an active, unrestricted Physical Therapy license in any state. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical practice following licensure. Demonstrate evidence of professional or community service activities/engagement. Demonstrate contemporary expertise in areas of teaching (i.e. post-professional certifications, continuing education, etc.). Evidence of satisfactory student evaluations. Demonstrate evidence of participation in the design, conduct or dissemination of original research.

For Clinical Associate Professor rank, the successful candidate must have the qualifications above and at least five (5) years of full-time teaching experience at the assistant professor rank; A minimum of four (4) peer-reviewed publications or presentations; minimum of two (2) service activities at the department, college, or university level; and evidence of satisfactory student evaluations. We strongly encourage candidates with participation in a minimum of one CAPTE Self Study Specialty certification (CCS, GCS, OCS, NCS, PCS, OS, WCS, ECS, SCS, WCS) or equivalent Higher education certification in active learning, hybrid education, teaching models, curriculum, or similar.
