Position Title:

Clinical Assistant Professor - Otolaryngology

Job Family Group:

AcademicThe Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides evidence-based, patient-centered clinical care for adult otolaryngology conditions, including comprehensive outpatient and surgical services. This position is employed by The University of Kansas Medical Center and primarily supports clinical services at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, with additional affiliated locations as needed.

The faculty member contributes to the educational mission of the department through resident and trainee education, clinical supervision, and participation in academic activities. The individual also supports departmental and divisional service activities that advance patient care, education, and institutional missions.

Job Duties:

  • Provide specialized clinical, educational, and/or research services within area of expertise using current, evidence-based practices and techniques.
  • Deliver comprehensive services across clinical settings, classroom environments, laboratory settings, or a combination thereof.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, research groups, academic programs, and institutional partners to support patient care, program development, innovation, and scholarly activity.
  • Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of learners, including students, trainees, and other designated groups.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, seminars, and other academic activities as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in their area of specialization, including clinical practice, procedural skills, teaching, and/or research focus.

Required Qualifications

Education MD, DO, or equivalent.

  • This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in Otolaryngology
  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
