The Division of Nursing Science at Indiana University South Bend, within the Vera Z. Dwyer School of Health Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, clinical (non-tenure track) faculty position beginning January 1, 2027. The Division of Nursing Science offers a traditional BSN program, a mobility-option RN-to-BSN program, and four MSN tracks (Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Post-Master’s FNP Certificate, Nurse Education, and Nursing Administration). The primary focus of this position is teaching MSN core courses, Family Nurse Practitioner clinical rotations, and Advanced Health Assessment lab. Additional teaching responsibilities may include laboratory, clinical, and lecture courses in the BSN program in the candidate’s areas of expertise. Preference will be given to those who have obstetrics or pediatrics experience. A typical full-time nursing faculty teaching assignment requires in-person teaching (lecture and clinical), class/ clinical preparation, grading, providing academic support to students, and engaging in service to the school, college, university, and community. Additional responsibilities include assistance with clinical simulation and may include development of new courses and/or development of new degree programs.

Preference will be given to candidates who have the skills to teach across the MSN curriculum and the BSN program. The MSN Certification pass rates are consistently 100%, and graduates of the BSN and MSN programs are known for the quality of their academic and experiential preparation. The programs within the Division of Nursing Science are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Basic Qualifications

Required: An earned master’s degree in nursing is required, The candidate must have or be eligible to hold a current RN license in Indiana and have national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. A minimum of five years of previous clinical experience in a nursing role is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, communication, collaboration, professionalism, organizational skills, and emotional intelligence, including the ability to build positive relationships, communicate with empathy, and navigate challenging situations with integrity and respect.

Preferred: A doctorate (PhD or DNP) in nursing is preferred.

Three or more years as a family nurse practitioner preferred.

Previous clinical and/or academic lecture teaching experience is highly desired.
