Job Description

Arizona State University, Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation, is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, 9-month Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor to teach in the Doctor of Professional Practice Program. Responsibilities may include delivering high-quality instruction, guiding doctoral students, and contributing subject matter expertise in regulatory affairs and clinical research. This position may be performed remotely from any location within Arizona, with notice to the university of the work location.

Essential Functions

Instruction &Curriculum Development

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge in the field and the ability to transmit and extend that knowledge to students and others through dynamic, stimulating, and creative strategies.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop critical, creative thinkers through continuous planning, analysis, evaluation, and revision of courses and workshops.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge in the field and sustained effectiveness in teaching in the classroom and clinical area.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates innovative teaching methods.
  • Complete Onboarding & Training: Participate in all required preparation activities before teaching.
  • Teach graduate-level courses related to regulatory frameworks, clinical trial management, quality assurance, biomedical product development, and other topics in regulatory and clinical research management.
  • Develop and deliver course content that aligns with program learning objectives.
  • Manage Canvas Course Shell: Maintain course materials, announcements, and communication within the learning platform.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and rigorous learning environment for multicultural doctoral students.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic support to students.
  • Support Student Development: Encourage and assist students in their academic, career, and personal growth.
  • Adhere to University, College, and Department policy and procedures, including and not limited to student privacy (FERPA), student engagement and support, academic integrity, student code of conduct, and grading policies.
  • Participate in curriculum review and continuous program improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with program faculty and leadership to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity and excellence.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving regulations, standards, and best practices in the regulatory science and clinical research fields.

Scholarship & Research

  • Engage in scholarly activities related to nursing practice, education, or health care innovation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research projects, presentations, or publications.
  • Support student scholarly inquiry in alignment with the Nursing program requirements.
  • Incorporate scholarly and creative activities into clinical practice and teaching.

Institutional Service

  • Participates in professional service through membership on elected, appointed, and voluntary committees in the college, university, community, and professional organizations that contribute to the Edson College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation, the individual professional, and to higher education.
  • Participates in appointed and voluntary activities that contribute to the college, university, and community.
  • Participates in faculty governance of the College and University.
  • Participates in the strategic plan of the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Hold an earned Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, PharmD, JD, MD, DHsc, DNP, or equivalent) in regulatory science, clinical research, biomedical sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution by the time of the appointment.
  • Three years of full-time relevant clinical/professional experience.
  • Professional certification as required by discipline.
  • Professional licensure as required by discipline.
  • Evidence of teaching (university-level or professional training) in the subject area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2 years of prior teaching experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the subject area.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.
