Priory Hospital Woking has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team. This role is offered on a part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week.

We also have a full-time opportunity available, working 37.5 hours per week, for candidates seeking a full-time position.

Priory Hospital Woking is a mental health and addiction rehab hospital, offering world class inpatient and outpatient treatment.

We can treat a variety of addictions and mental health conditions, including alcohol and drug recovery services, and treatment for depression. We can also offer private autism assessments for adults, as well as an autism psychological support pathway for adults who have been diagnosed with autism.

Priory Hospital Woking is located just outside the town centre and is approximately a 10-15 minute drive from the surrounding areas. If you're driving through town, going via Lockfield Drive or St Johns road will likely be the quickest routes.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop evidence-based formulations for adults with complex mental health needs.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological therapies in individual and group settings.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused, person-centred care.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and evaluation of personalised treatment plans.
  • Provide psychological consultation, guidance, and training to colleagues and the wider clinical team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure practice complies with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in clinical governance, service development, quality improvement, and audit activities.
  • Offer risk assessment and risk management input to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Provide clinical supervision, reflective practice, and mentoring where appropriate.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role – Consultant Psychologist
Applicants must be HCPC registered with a minimum of five years’ post-registration experience at Consultant level, demonstrating leadership and strategic experience. Essential training includes CBT and at least two further therapeutic modalities, including at least one intervention appropriate to the patient group.

The following experience would be beneficial:
Experience working within inpatient mental health services, including acute, rehabilitation, or specialist settings, would be advantageous.

We welcome candidates with expertise in supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations, including risk management, trauma, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, providing clinical supervision and consultation, contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and supporting research, audit, or innovation projects would be highly valued. Experience in delivering teaching and training, working collaboratively with external agencies, and promoting psychologically informed care across services would also be beneficial.
