Job Description

Job Title: Clinic Nurse (RN)

Location: 3935 Sunnyside Drive Harrisonburg VA 22801

Schedule: Part-Time; 8 hours one day per week with additional PRN hours; Shift starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

& General Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Clinic Nurse is to coordinate all activities of clinical services – i.e. medical and dental offices, therapy services, foot care, and employee health including new employee health assessments and evaluation of job-related injuries. In addition, the Clinic Nurse is responsible for responding to “off-the-hook” phone calls for the Village, assessing residents, and coordinating needs surrounding the extra duty sitter program ensuring all requirements are met.

Resident Care & Employee Health

  • Assist physicians during office hours by following through with orders for Highlands and Village residents and monitoring resident charts across all areas.
  • Provide first aid treatment for residents and employees, ensuring immediate care and arranging further treatment if necessary.
  • Administer ear lavage and cleaning for residents as requested, following proper procedures.
  • Provide empathetic support to residents, family members, and guests, respecting their confidentiality and privacy
  • Support workers' compensation claims with the Human Resources Director, ensuring timely submission of necessary paperwork and maintaining OSHA compliance.
  • Follow up on blood and bodily fluid exposure incidents, complete necessary paperwork, and adhere to Sunnyside policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate annual flu shots, tuberculosis testing, and hepatitis injections for employees, ensuring proper scheduling, availability of supplies, and safe administration.
  • Ensure extra duty sitters meet policy requirements (ADM.003) before starting their duties, verifying that all documentation is current.

Administrative Tasks, Medical Equipment, & Testing

  • Perform medical tests and procedures for residents, including urine checks, EKGs, glucose blood tests, and phlebotomies, following proper protocols and reporting to appropriate staff.
  • Conduct pacemaker checks for residents, coordinating with the cardiology office as needed.
  • Operate medical equipment, including EKG machines, centrifuges, and pacemakers, for lab tests and other duties.
  • Analyze and interpret medical readings such as blood pressure, blood glucose, and thermometer results accurately.
  • Administer assessments for new employees, including PPD tests, mouth swab drug screens, and initial health assessments, as required by company policies.
  • Coordinate hearing aid services for residents, ensuring timely notifications when services are available.
  • Ensure all residents on the Focus List are called daily for follow-up.

Requirements

  • Current a licensed nurse with the Virginia Board of Nursing (RN)
  • Must have CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or be able to obtain.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong phone etiquette.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and having good organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.

This job operates in an environment of office space with normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation, and noise levels. General office environment with normal lighting levels. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time. Additionally, employees will routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 30 lbs or less and occasionally more than 40 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Normal hazards related to general office environment. Contact with blood, body fluids, and other infectious drainage. Minimal hazards if required Universal Precautions are followed.
