The clinical assistant (CA) provides clinical support in a high-volume practice of orthopedic surgeons. The position is responsible for a wide variety of clinical and clerical duties. The Clinical Assistant Support Specialist provides adaptable, high-quality clinical and administrative support across Forté’s orthopedic and sports medicine practices. This full-time role is designed to supplement staffing needs, maintain patient flow, and ensure consistent care standards across multiple Forté locations The CA will perform a broad range of clinical, clerical, and patient-facing tasks while collaborating with physicians, clinical managers, and care teams in a high-volume orthopedic clinical environment.

Essential functions

  • Assists patients to/from clinic areas
  • Scribe patient information into the EMR system
  • Retrieve patient information from EMR system
  • Conduct preliminary patient evaluations
  • Communicate information with patients as directed by physician
  • Provide appropriate patient education regarding injuries
  • Manage and prioritize phone calls and electronic communication
  • Schedule patient testing
  • Obtain prior authorizations
  • Support physicians during patient office visits, including room preparation and assisting with examinations.

  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • High degree of organization, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse provider teams and clinical workflows.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance, clinical, and regulatory standards.

Supervisory responsibilities - None

Work environment

  • Work is performed in a professional orthopedic and sports medicine clinical setting across multiple Forté sites. The role requires adaptability to different clinic layouts, provider workflows, patient volumes, and operational structures.

Physical demands

  • Walking, standing, speaking, listening, computer and phone usage.
  • Occasional sitting and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move quickly between exam rooms and clinical work areas.

Travel required

  • Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to respond to short-notice coverage needs.
  • Required: Regular travel to Forte locations; Carmel, Greenwood, Mooresville, Noblesville (as Scheduled)

Required education and experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical assistant experience is required
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system is required

Preferred education and experience

  • Orthopedic or Sports Medicine experience is preferred
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Athletic Trainer strongly preferred
  • Five (5) years of clinical assistant experience is preferred
