Under general supervision by the APRN Unit Manager and Service Delivery Director, provides primary and secondary health services for individuals and families presenting to the public health department for care in the areas of women's and men's health, including family planning and STD/HIV. Practices and prescribes as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (NP) according to and in compliance with the legal authority granted under the Nurse Practice Act of South Carolina, including the use of approved written protocols developed with a collaborating physician to guide practice. Establishes and monitors clinical practice quality in area of specialty.
The Spartanburg Health Department is seeking a compassionate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Clinical Services Team, providing autonomous, patient-centered care across Family Planning, STD/HIV Services, and other preventive programs in Spartanburg County and surrounding areas. In this role, the APRN serves as an independent clinical provider—leading assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling for diverse and complex patient needs—while supporting quality improvement efforts, guiding nursing staff, and ensuring culturally competent, high-quality care across multiple clinic sites.
State Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience. Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina (Board). Some positions require prescriptive authority per the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act, Section 40-33-34. Some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Some positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license.
Agency Additional Requirements: Must hold an active South Carolina nursing license in good standing, or a valid multistate license in good standing from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) participating state (this allows them to be hired, start working, and have 60 days to change over to SC license by endorsement by BON. Exception is for military status and/or spouse).
