Job Title: Climbing Wall Attendant/Instructor

Location: Maggie Daley Park, Chicago, IL

Employment type: Part-Time/Non-Exempt
Reports to: Ribbon and Climbing Wall Operations Manager

Maggie Daley Park – Legends Global, a vibrant and iconic destination in downtown Chicago, is seeking energetic, responsible, and safety-focused individuals to join our Climbing Wall team. As a Climbing Wall Attendant/Instructor, you’ll provide outstanding guest experiences by facilitating climbing activities, ensuring safety protocols, and promoting an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for climbers of all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise guests while using the climbing wall during open hours to ensure a safe and fun environment for all participants.

  • Conduct orientations, fit harnesses, and ensure all climbers understand and follow safety procedures.

  • Provide belay services and instruction to climbers, including beginners, youth groups, and returning guests.

  • Educate guests on climbing techniques, wall rules, and equipment usage.

  • Monitor and enforce park policies, age/weight requirements, and climbing protocols.

  • Conduct regular safety checks on climbing equipment (harnesses, ropes, carabiners, belay devices) and the climbing structure itself; report damaged or worn gear to supervisors.

  • Assist with daily setup and breakdown of climbing operations, including gear organization, signage, and cleaning.

  • Support special events, group bookings, and climbing programs including camps, school groups, birthday parties, and corporate team building.

  • Keep accurate attendance records, waiver forms, incident reports, and daily activity logs.

  • Aid in setting and resetting climbing routes and help design age-appropriate challenges.

  • Stay current on best practices in climbing safety and guest interaction by participating in ongoing training.

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Maggie Daley Park by delivering a welcoming, inclusive, and enthusiastic experience for every guest.

  • Help promote other park programs and amenities to guests and encourage repeat visits.

  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding program improvements, wall usage trends, and guest experiences.

  • Inform supervisor of any on-site incidents.

  • Complete other job responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Previous climbing experience (indoor or outdoor) required.

  • Customer service or recreation experience preferred.

  • Belay certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb and belay repeatedly throughout a shift.

  • Able to stand, walk, or move for extended periods.

HOURLY RATE: $20.00
