
The primary responsibility for this position is to provide information to patients regarding their account status, to assist customers with problem resolution and to provide clerical and administrative support to the department. A strong working knowledge of all customer service responsibilities as defined by the respective A&E tool for this position is required. These responsibilities are performed primarily through telephone, in writing, in person, and/or via correspondence.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
LANGUAGE Bi-Lingual -- Spanish -- preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 - 3 years' experience in a hospital business office environment in the areas of claim processing, billing and follow-up required. 1-2 years working knowledge of McKesson/STAR with an emphasis on Patient Registration/Insurance Management preferred.
1-2 year's previous customer service experience is required. Working knowledge of all types of medical insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, Blue Cross, etc.) preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically that of Outlook and Word required.
The Customer Service Representative possesses well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and interacts effectively with all levels of the organization. This position demonstrates commitment to internal and external customer service, achieves established telephone performance standards and demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Position requires sitting at a desk/computer a majority of the day and frequent walking, standing and reaching This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Works with equipment such as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.
