WHAT YOU DO

Some of the key soft skills for a Client Portfolio Manager are: Confidence, Determination, Self-motivation, Strong time management skills, Ability to work effectively under pressure, Good numerical and IT skills, Analytical and problem-solving skills, Team working and keen interest in and understanding of financial markets. Strong communication skills are essential.

  • Identify business opportunities, propose tailored investment solutions, and strengthen relationships with Relationship Managers (RMs) and clients.
  • Communicate the CIO’s house view and convey investment strategies from portfolio managers across various products clearly and effectively.
  • Maintain and proactively manage communication channels with RMs and clients through regular client meetings, conference calls, and client events.
  • Support portfolio managers by writing insightful commentary, publishing ad-hoc market insights, and executing portfolio rebalancing as needed.
  • Prepare and develop comprehensive marketing materials and investment proposals that cater to the evolving market environment and specific client needs, including the creation of impactful PPT slides and other collateral.
  • Provide timely investment industry updates and product trend analysis to the CIO office through active collection of market intelligence and leveraging industry contacts.
  • Partner closely with functional teams and portfolio managers to promptly and effectively address clients' requests and inquiries, demonstrating a practical, “do whatever it takes” approach to problem-solving.
  • Take ownership and initiative in communicating regularly with the front office, driving the development and growth of the Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) franchise in Hong Kong.
  • Actively contribute as a strong team player by supporting colleagues across all aspects of the business, beyond individual scope of work, to achieve collective goals.
  • Present to DPM clients in review sessions and larger forums, ensuring clear articulation of portfolio strategies and value propositions.
  • Drive business results by proactively collaborating with front office teams to meet and exceed sales targets, continuously seeking new ways to develop and expand the DPM franchise.


WHO YOU ARE

  • >10 years of experience in sales and client servicing within asset management, private banking or capital markets.
  • Practical and results-oriented mindset, willing to go beyond defined responsibilities to ensure business success.
  • Proactive communicator who takes initiative in engaging with front office and clients to foster business growth.
  • Proven track record in capital raising, preferably with wealth management or asset management firms, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex portfolio concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in optimizing the sales process and business models to align with the group's requirements and regulatory framework.
  • Solid knowledge of financial products, including public equities, fixed income, and multi-asset products.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English is required.
  • Preferably for candidates with HKIB Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) professional qualification

  • Type 1: Dealing in securities
  • Type 4: Advising on securities
  • Type 9: Asset management
