Responsibilities
About the Role
Build the relationships that grow Hummingbird’s future with health systems across the country.
As a Client Partner at Hummingbird, you own relationships with assigned health system clients, whether that means deepening a long-standing partnership or opening the door to a brand new one. You’ll spend most of your day in executive-level conversations, using deep knowledge of patient access and health system operations to move the relationship forward. Every conversation is a chance to build trust and long-term value, and you’ll do it with a team that supports your growth and success.
We’re hiring for two related paths under this posting, described below. Read through both and see which one fits your background and interests best.
Two Paths, One Team
Both paths sit on the same Client Partner team, use the same core skill set, and are held to the same bar for executive presence and commercial judgment. Where they differ is where you spend your time.
Client Success Executive
- Focus: Growing and retaining existing health system relationships
- A day in the life: Deepening partnerships, leading renewal and expansion conversations, and converting advisory engagements into managed services
- Who you’ll talk to: Existing executive sponsors and champions at assigned accounts
- Compensation: $154,000–$200,000. New hires typically start between $154,000 and $185,000, plus an annual bonus target.
- Travel: Regular onsite client visits (up to 25%, roughly monthly)
Business Development Executive
- Focus: Building new health system relationships from the ground up
- A day in the life: Prospecting through outreach and conferences, and moving new contacts from first conversation to signed deal
- Who you’ll talk to: CFOs, CIOs, and Chiefs of Ambulatory Operations you’re meeting for the first time
- Compensation: $162,000–$211,000. New hires typically start between $162,000 and $195,000, plus an annual bonus target.
- Travel: Frequent conference and prospect travel (25–50%)
What You’ll Do
Across both paths, you’ll:
- Own the full relationship or pursuit lifecycle for assigned health system accounts, whether that means deepening an existing partnership or opening a new one.
- Build and maintain a disciplined, accurate pipeline of opportunities, prioritized by strategic fit and revenue potential.
- Lead discovery conversations and deliver the end-to-end Hummingbird pitch independently and confidently to senior audiences, including CFOs, CIOs, and Chiefs of Ambulatory Operations.
- Advance opportunities from advisory-only engagements into long-term managed services relationships, negotiating terms within established guardrails.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, building trusted executive relationships so clients experience Hummingbird as a partner, not a vendor.
- Generate qualified leads and pursue new relationships through targeted outreach, conferences, referrals, and partnership channels.
- Connect Hummingbird’s work to the outcomes that matter most to clients and lead executive-level value conversations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Strategy and Service Delivery to shape expansion decisions and execute clean transitions at close.
- Bring market and account intelligence back to the team to help prioritize where Hummingbird pursues its next opportunity.
The Details
- Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Work Location: Remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent Internet service
- Work Type: Full-time
- Compensation and travel: See Two Paths, One Team above; both vary by path.
- Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid time off; 401(k); parental leave; career development support; and more
Required & Desired Skills
What You’ll Bring
Across both paths, you’ll bring:
- 8–10+ years of experience in business development, account management, or client success in a healthcare IT or patient access environment, with consistent executive-level relationship building.
- Real, hands-on experience working in or closely alongside Epic, not just familiarity from the outside, deep enough to engage credibly with health system operational and technical stakeholders.
- Experience navigating multiple stakeholders in a single sale, including CFOs, CIOs, and Chiefs of Ambulatory Operations.
- Strong systems thinking and sound judgment in high-risk, high-uncertainty client environments, with the ability to guide others effectively.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and pipeline management tools, with documentation habits that support accurate forecasting.
- Comfort working remote.
Path-specific experience
- Client Success Executive: a track record managing complex health system relationships, converting advisory-only engagements into managed services relationships, and leading renewal or expansion conversations with executive stakeholders.
- Business Development Executive: a track record building pipeline at net-new accounts and closing complex deals with health system executives who had no prior relationship with your organization.
Nice to Have
- Experience serving as project director on a healthcare IT or patient access implementation or consulting engagement.
- Experience leading multi-team initiatives end-to-end in a commercial, client success, or business development context.
- Experience in a start-up or rapidly growing environment.
Which Path Fits You?
If you have a clear preference between these two paths, use the optional “Why are you interested in this position and/or working at Hummingbird?” question in your application to let us know, a line or two is perfect. If you’re truly excited about either, tell us that there too. We’ll evaluate your background against both paths and match you to the one that fits best, based on your experience and what you share.
Please Note: The seniority level of this position may be adjusted during the recruitment process based on candidate skills and experience.
A Note on Authentic Interviews
We believe the best hiring conversations are real ones. Notes are welcome, and jotting things down during the call is completely fine. What we ask is that you don’t use AI tools or similar assistance to generate your responses in real time. We’re genuinely trying to get to know you: how you think, how you communicate, and what you’ve experienced. That connection matters to us, and it’s hard to find when answers are scripted rather than interactive.
We’re a team that makes healthcare more human. We’d love to meet the person behind your application.
The Hummingbird Approach
We value a team that brings diverse perspectives and experiences to the work we do. While there are many ways to do this, people who are successful at Hummingbird:
