Job Description

Client Contracts Lawyer

Location: Birmingham or Manchester (other UK PM offices considered)

Contract: Full-time, hybrid with 3 days a week in the office

Strengthen our client relationships by delivering robust, commercial contract solutions.

Our Client Contracts & Commercial Team is part of the General Counsel’s Office and plays a pivotal role in enabling effective client engagement across the firm. We partner closely with colleagues across all practice groups to ensure our client‑facing contracts are compliant, commercially robust and aligned with Pinsent Masons’ wider risk and strategic objectives.

We’re now seeking a Client Contracts Lawyer to strengthen our high‑performing team and help shape the firm’s contractual approaches in an evolving and increasingly innovative market.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of a supportive, knowledgeable team with exposure to high‑value, cross‑firm decision‑making.

In this varied and commercially impactful role, you will:

  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of client‑facing contracts, including complex commercial, technology and AI‑related arrangements.
  • Provide clear, commercially grounded legal advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure contractual arrangements meet regulatory, legal and internal policy requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks, collaborating with colleagues across the GCO and wider firm.
  • Escalate matters appropriately in line with internal governance processes.
  • Support ad hoc projects across the GCO, including process improvements and policy development.
  • Champion efficiency through legal technology and contract‑management tools.
  • Spot opportunities to streamline contracting processes and embed best practice.

About You

You will bring:

  • Strong academic background and qualification as a solicitor (typically 3+ PQE, but all suitable experience considered).
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts; in‑house law firm experience is desirable.
  • Sharp analytical skills and the ability to deliver practical, accessible advice.
  • Confidence operating in unfamiliar or complex subject areas.
  • Strong organisation and time‑management, with the ability to juggle multiple matters at pace.
  • Sound judgment, resilience and a calm, professional approach under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to work autonomously when needed.
  • An interest in legal technology and improving contract processes.

Why Join Us?

  • Influence the firm’s commercial risk profile through high‑impact work.
  • Be part of a respected, growing GCO function with strong leadership and clear development pathways.
  • Work across a wide variety of contract types, including cutting‑edge technology and AI matters.
  • Play a key role in enhancing the firm’s client engagement and commercial strategy
