Job Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst is a key resource with greater technical expertise and business knowledge. Their main role is to solve complex and critical operational problems by developing and using SQL and Power BI. Although they do not necessarily lead a team formally, they work closely with the BI Assistant Manager on strategic and high-impact initiatives, and act as a technical mentor to strengthen the capabilities of the Analyst I team.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Propose, develop, and implement automated solutions using Microsoft SQL and Power BI.
- Provide technical expertise and advanced knowledge in business intelligence.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and address their needs.
- Maintain regular communication and deliver consistent updates to clients regarding progress and results.
- May coordinate a team to analyze and interpret information requests to achieve departmental objectives, depending on the assignment.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for resolving escalations and providing advanced solutions.
- Manage and identify potential risks in client requirements, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Act as a strategic consultant for the Business Intelligence Department and internal/external clients.
- Translate business requirements into specifications for data warehouse and data mart design and configuration.
- Coordinate maintenance and updates of BI tools, databases, dashboards, and processes.
- Facilitate the discovery process and generate technical documents.
- Provide support in functionality proposals and best practices.
- Create data models and analyze requirements.
- Build data visualizations that add value to the end user.
- Manage and track accordingly to methodology and institutional platforms.
- Perform duties with moderate to low supervision.
- Collaborate with various department managers and executive teams to build daily, weekly reports and dashboards as per their specific needs.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures of the Business Intelligence Department.
Decisions Expected
- Allocate tasks and manage project timelines to ensure team objectives are met.
- Determine the appropriate automated solutions using Microsoft SQL and Power BI based on client requirements.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in client requirements to ensure satisfaction and project success.
- Approve data models and visualizations that meet client needs and add value.
- Coordinate the maintenance and updates of BI tools, databases, dashboards, and processes.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures of the Business Intelligence Department.
- Manage data configuration and implement change controls for client projects.
- Oversee the synthesis of business intelligence data to support actionable insights.
Main Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Preferred: Experience in coordinating and leading other teams.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a BI position.
- English Proficiency for effective communication (At least B2).
Required Skills
- General Business Intelligence knowledge.
- Mastery of Power BI platform administration.
- Data Engineering with Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
- Proficiency in MS SQL Server: database management, tables, indexes, stored procedures, functions, and efficient queries.
- Teamwork with project management and Scrum methodology.
- Knowledge of data transformation with SQL and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
- Ability to write and manage scripts using C#.
- Cozyroc for SSIS (Desirable)
