Our client, a well-established professional services organisation, is seeking a Client Accountant to join their growing team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients across various industries, ensuring high-quality accounting services, strong client relationships, and compliance with relevant accounting and tax standards.

This role is ideal for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys working in a client-facing environment and contributing to both operational excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Manage a portfolio of clients across various industries, maintaining and enhancing strong client relationships while ensuring high levels of service quality, efficiency, and satisfaction.
• 
  Ensure accurate maintenance of clients’ accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards.
• 
  Prepare VAT returns, tax returns, and management accounts, and liaise with auditors as required.
• 
  Manage own workflows, workloads, and deadlines effectively.
• 
  Lead or support ad-hoc financial reporting tasks and projects as assigned by management.
• 
  Liaise with relevant authorities on behalf of clients when required.
• 
  Support and review the work of team members, acting as a point of reference and promoting effective collaboration.
• 
  Assist with onboarding of new clients.
• 
  Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements.
• 
  Contribute to business growth by identifying potential opportunities within the client portfolio.

Requirements

• 
  ACCA qualified or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 
  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a client-facing accounting role, ideally within a CSP or similar environment.
• 
  Strong knowledge of IFRS or locally accepted accounting standards.
• 
  Good understanding of Maltese VAT and tax legislation.
• 
  Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); fluency in another language is considered an asset.
• 
  Strong team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
• 
  Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• 
  High level of integrity and risk awareness when handling confidential information.
• 
  Strong digital literacy and ability to work across multiple accounting systems and tools.
• 
  Experience with cloud-based accounting software (especially Xero) will be considered an asset.
