Salary/Rate: Fixed rate per meeting - £100

About the Role

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is seeking a dedicated and organized Clerk to the Academy Council to support our REGION. In this vital governance role, you will act as the key advisor and administrative backbone to the Academy Council.

You will work closely with the Chair of Governors, the Principal, and council members to ensure that governance business is conducted effectively, ethically, and in full compliance with the current legal and constitutional frameworks. This position requires an individual who can maintain strict confidentiality, secure continuity of business, and provide objective administrative leadership.

  • Governance & Compliance Advice: Advise the Academy Council on constitutional matters, duties, powers, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Meeting Administration: Manage the end-to-end administration of council meetings, including preparing agendas, compiling briefing papers, and producing accurate, high-quality minutes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive records of the Academy Council’s membership, attendance, and training registers.
  • Continuity & Communication: Act as the central point of contact for governors, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of business between meetings.

  • Strong administrative skills with a proven track record of accurate minute-taking and record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • An understanding of (or willingness to learn) the legislative framework surrounding educational governance.
