The State Hygienic Laboratory (Iowa’s Environmental and Public Health Laboratory), at the University of Iowa, under contract with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Clerk III in the Coralville, Iowa facility. The primary function of the position is to contribute to the Laboratory Support Services section of the State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL). This position is expected to provide superior customer service and support to the SHL clientele via telephone and other modes of communication as well as to the lab itself. The primary responsibilities will include answering the main phone line to the clinical division, clerical duties such as data entry, data management, customer services, responding to customer requests, responding to lab requests, placing courier orders, and placing kit orders.
Position Status: Regular Merit
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with potential weekends and holidays.
Work Modality: In person, with possibility of hybrid (within Iowa) after the initial training period.

Qualifications:
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
·Any combination of related clerical office experience related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.
Desirable Qualifications:
·Two years of working in a customer service role.
·Ability to perform tasks that require accuracy, attention to detail, including accurate record keeping.
·Basic office experience.
·Previous experience in data entry.
·Thirty words per minute typing ability.
·Knowledge of environmental and/or clinical terminology.
·Excellent communication and customer service skills is a must.
·Previous work in a clinical setting and/or public health setting.
·Previous work in a confidential setting.
