Summary

The incumbent to this position will be assisting in performing a broad range of clerical tasks. The work in general is routine, but offers the opportunity to learn general office experience and decorum. Job assignments and procedures are definitely fixed and the incumbent is under direct supervision from Clerks, Account Clerks, Typists and Stenographers in the office.

Examples of duties

Assists in sorting, indexing and filing mail, bills, requisitions, ledger cards and other material;

Makes simple file searches and maintains charge out records;

Answers telephones and gives out routine information;

Acts as receptionist;

May assist in compiling data and other basic information for research purposes;

Assists in maintaining time reports and payroll data;

Files correspondence;

May assist and/or operate various business machines;

Assists in arrangements for all photo identifications for all new employees;

May proofread correspondence, reports for clerical accuracy;

May do incidental typing such as index cards, labels for folders, records and forms;

Performs related duties as required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must be tenants of a Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority Project Site.
