Job Description

Performs general clerical work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures. Work may involve the operation of simple office machines, including a PC when such work is incidental and does not necessitate previous training, or the operation of more complex machine in a training capacity. Detailed instructions are given at the beginning of work and on subsequent new assignments. After becoming familiar with particular procedures, may work independently on the more routine aspect of the work

Responsibilities

-Sorts and files correspondence and documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other established classifications; removes and returns material from files; prepares file folders by subject, name or other headings. -Receives visitors and directs them to proper offices; answers routine questions. -Receives, opens, logs, sorts, time-stamps and distributes mail as instructed in a timely manner. Operates office machines and is responsible for insuring that maintenance is done when needed. -Delivers correspondence to Finance and Purchasing departments as needed. -Addresses envelopes or other mailers following an established list; stuffs envelops and seals mail for outgoing delivery. -Required to maintain scanning and indexing logs. -Responsible for the scanning and indexing of all required work. -Answers telephone and relays calls or takes messages. -Familiar with all policies and procedures used in performing relative job requirements. -Operates a variety of simple office machines and equipment, such as photocopiers, decollators, detachers, bookbinders and trimmers. -Completes all mandatories as required, i.e., physical assessment, annual training on Healthstream, etc.

Qualifications

- Some knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

- Some knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.

- Ability to learn modern office practices and procedures.

- Ability to learn and develop skills in the operation of office equipment and machines.

- Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction

- Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks within a reasonable time and to adhere to prescribed routines.

- Ability to learn and use coding and filling schemes.

- Ability to check numbers and written material for accuracy.

- Ability to make simple arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately and with reasonable speed.

- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public.

- High School or GED (Required)

A new 33-bed Medical-Surgical Unit at the Concourse Hospital Division and 20-bed Adult Psychiatric Unit at the Fulton Hospital Division will increase inpatient capacity to 912 beds, further reinforcing BronxCare’s ability to address the significant needs of the Bronx community.

BronxCare is also modernizing its Inpatient Maternity and Labor and Delivery Units, as well as its Women’s Health Center and Neurology Suite, to improve the patient experience. Additionally, BronxCare’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center Practice at 174th Street will be opening.
