The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Finance, Bureau of Collection Services is seeking to hire clerical support staff to perform a variety of specialized clerical duties pertaining to the Worker’s Compensation Program, Personal Injury Program, and Liens and Estates claims. This position will access and process Personal Injury, Worker’s Compensation, and Liens and Estates requests, and review medical and financial information to substantiate the Department’s Worker’s Compensation subrogation claim and Personal Injury lien notice. The clerical support staff also processes all incoming mail, enters data, processes statistical reports, creates electronic and hard copy files, files documents, and responds to inquiries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and display motivation and initiative. The preferred candidate will exhibit the ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on tasks to ensure such are completed accurately and timely to achieve set goals.

Essential Functions

  • Under direction, serves as Clerical Support Staff for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Division of Finance, Bureau of Collection Services by performing a variety of specialized clerical duties pertaining to the Worker’s Compensation Program, Personal Injury Program, and Liens and Estates claims
  • Accesses and processes Personal Injury (PI), Worker’s Compensation (WC), and Liens and Estates requests from the general mailbox, incoming mail, and faxes
  • Reviews medical and financial information to substantiate the Department’s Worker’s Compensation subrogation claim and Personal Injury lien notice
  • Processes all incoming mail and ensures such is distributed to the appropriate staff or program
  • Acquires ledgers for related Personal Injury, Worker’s Compensation, or Liens and Estates cases
  • Enters data and processes statistical reports
  • Creates electronic and hard copy files, files documents, and responds to inquiries
  • Performs other duties are required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
