Examples of duties

This position supports customer service, correspondence preparation, transaction processing, and record maintenance within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Your primary responsibilities will involve working with computer systems, researching information, and ensuring accuracy in important vehicle-related records. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:

  • Correspondence Preparation: Research requests, write and proofread executive correspondence, and prepare letters for internal and external customers
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain lienholder files, update spreadsheets, and store electronic and paper records
  • Research Work: Use vehicle codes, databases, digital files, and program policies to review and correct customer records
  • Transaction Processing: Process titling, registration, and parking placard transactions and resolve customer discrepancies
  • Help Desk Support: Assist service providers and agencies by researching records, providing information, and updating systems
  • Customer Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to messages, and provide clear information to customers about program requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
