As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Transportation, you will work directly with customers to process key registration and licensing requests. Examples of duties

This position centers on assisting customers with motor vehicle and driver licensing applications while ensuring that all information is processed correctly and consistently. The role helps maintain accurate records and smooth daily operations.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Customer Service: Assist customers in person or by telephone with licensing and registration needs
  • Credential Processing: Examine, verify, and issue driver license and registration documents
  • Form Handling: Process bureau forms for replacements, corrections, renewals, and disability placards
  • Record Research: Investigate discrepancies and retrieve documents to correct customer records
  • Payment Review: Determine negotiability of checks and money orders and handle cash transactions
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure proper fee waiver documentation and follow departmental guidelines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Possibility of voluntary or mandatory overtime.
  • May be required to work when a full day and/or partial-day office closing is authorized. To include but not limited to: early dismissals for inclement weather; the day before holidays and special holiday closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,287 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
