Compensation: £12.71 / hour

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and customer-focused Cleaner to join our Estates & Facilities team.

You will play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and positive learning and working environment for students, staff and visitors. Working under the direction of the Cleaning Manager or Team Leader, you will carry out a wide range of internal and external cleaning duties.

This is a permanent, part-time role requiring 15 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 9:30am.

Please note that this is a term time only position, working 38 weeks per year. Your salary will be paid on a pro rata basis depending on your start date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning offices, classrooms, laboratories, event areas, stairs, corridors and entrances
  • Dusting desks, chairs, PCs, ledges and other surfaces
  • Vacuuming hard and soft floors, vents and grills
  • Mopping floors using dry and damp methods
  • Cleaning internal glass, mirrors, windows and doors
  • Carrying out occasional deep-cleaning and specialist cleaning tasks
  • Reporting faults, incidents and potential hazards
  • Following health and safety procedures and safe working practices
  • Looking after cleaning equipment, materials, keys and building access
  • Supporting the wider maintenance of designated buildings

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Has cleaning experience in an industrial, education or similar environment
  • Is physically able to undertake vigorous work and remain standing for extended periods
  • Can adapt to a variety of manual duties
  • Is comfortable working in challenging cleaning conditions
  • Understands the importance of health and safety, including COSHH procedures

Central Campus Sandwell College is one of the newest FE Colleges in the UK and is a landmark for the development of education and training in the region.
