Cleaner

Casual & Part-time positions available.

We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaners to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidates will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall cleanliness and infection control within Yarrawonga Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness through routine cleaning, disinfecting and sanitising of patient rooms, communal areas and other designated spaces.
  • Safely collect, handle and dispose of waste, recyclables and biohazardous materials in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures, with a strong focus on high-touch and high-risk areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the Environmental Services team and healthcare staff to support efficient service delivery and specific cleaning requirements.
  • Follow workplace health and safety guidelines and promptly report hazards, risks or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays
  • Computer skills at a basic level;
  • Understanding of confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills;
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people;
  • Self-motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
