Job Description

Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We invest hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers.

The Clean Energy Senior Specialist, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Management team with the development and deployment of the DERMS platform. This role involves participating in software implementation, lab testing, requirements refinement, and ad-hoc reporting for the DERMS project.

The Senior Specialist will support either the Monitoring and Control or the Grid Edge Renewable Lab verticals of the DERMS project.

For Monitoring and Control, the Senior Specialist will support the software implementation, operational and interoperability workflow development, and requirement refinement of associated DERMS functionality. They will collaborate with key vendors, IT, Cyber Security, and other internal stakeholders on DER communication and the implementation of these systems within our DERMS platform. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will engage with key vendors and internal stakeholders to gather user stories and work with Product Owners to prioritize and integrate user requirements. They will also support user engagement and change management practices to drive the adoption of the DERMS platform.

In support of the lab, the Senior Specialist will aid in development of the lab space and test programs. This includes engaging with internal stakeholders to develop requirements, the procurement and implementation of equipment, authoring test plans, and conducting the test program. We provide power to more than 10 million people and businesses across NYC and Westchester. Reliability and accessibility are central to what we do and how we provide energy service. Leading the industry to power tomorrow is our other focus- we are committed to aggressively transitioning away from fossil fuels to a net-zero economy by 2050. To help achieve this we collaborate with customers, regulators, policymakers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our clean energy future is informed by principles of affordability, equity, and environmental justice. We’re also heavily investing in new technologies and the infrastructure that can get us there.

What are a few things we have achieved so far?

• Since 2009, our energy efficiency programs have prevented 11 million metric tons of carbon emissions – the same amount it would take to power 1.4 million homes for a year

• Recently, we’ve embarked on an 8-year project to make our systems more resilient in the face of extreme weather events
