Summary
The classroom aide supports the Head Start Center's operations through a variety of responsibilities. These duties include general maintenance of food service areas and assisting center staff with classroom activities. The Area Service Manager oversees this role.
Examples of duties
- Maintain all classrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
- Wash dishes and dispose of trash.
- Assist the teacher with classroom activities and decorations.
- Rotate to centers as needed.
- Assist with outdoor activities and supervision.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Occasionally
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Working in low temperatures.
- Working in high temperatures.
- Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Working in noisy environments.
- Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected.

Other Requirements/Information
- Must have a Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation that is properly insured. *If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
