
JOB DESCRIPTION � Human Resources SpecialistTITLE: Human Resources Specialist FTE: 1.0FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 8 WORK CALENDAR: 261 days COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $22.45/hour) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPosition will be a main point of contact for new hires and current employees with general HR questions and will be responsible for processing a large volume of transactions on a regular basis requiring a broad knowledge of District and Personnel policies Provides information regarding employment, position opening, pay rates and benefitsMaintains District personnel records on employment status, education requirements, professional growth, staffing, reduction in force, recall, surplus, reassignment, seniority, retirement, absences and longevity of District personnelCompletes multiple forms and maintains files ( i.e. I-9 documentation, professional growth, certification renewal, IVP renewal etc.)Verifies professional development activities for certification renewal, records new and renewed certificates and verifies certification/education and experience of applicants to determine qualificationsProcesses personnel action requests and issues employment contracts and/or work agreementsCollects data and compiles reports for administration and other agencies as needed; reviews and edits materials for compliance with policies and proceduresAssists volunteers and employees in completing Human Resources documentsPrepares personnel folders for new hires and/or exiting employeesMaintains personnel files and all personnel documentsManages tracking of all application materialsMaintains a file of the Recommendation for Hire Summary SheetsMaintains a database for tracking all employee evaluationsProcesses and maintains a database of volunteers and their statusInputs all employee maintenance into VISIONSMonitors and notifies supervisors of 90-day probationary period evaluation for new classified employees Monitors and maintains a file of all completed employee annual evaluations returned to Human Resources. Notifies supervisors regarding evaluation due dateGathers and files appropriate employment paperwork for contract and notice of appointments; fingerprinting and applicationsUpdates and manages job postings in Recruiting & HiringCompletes background checks Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issuesProvide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and communityPerform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner Maintain punctual and regular attendancePerform other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDTo perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Agua Fria Union High School District (AFUHSD) is a high school district serving Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, Waddell and Litchfield Park, Arizona. It was founded in 1955.
The district has five high schools and will be opening a new high school in 2025-2026 school year and offers a non-traditional program as well.
