Description of Work

The Classification and Compensation Supervisor oversees daily operations and staff responsible for administering the organization’s job classification and compensation programs. This role ensures job structures, pay practices, and policies are consistently applied, compliant, and support organizational needs. The supervisor provides guidance, conducts complex analyses, and supports strategic workforce planning efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of staff involved in job analysis, job evaluation, and compensation activities.
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of job descriptions and classification structures.
• Manage job evaluation processes and ensure internal equity and consistency across departments.
• Lead market salary studies and interpret benchmarking data to support compensation recommendations.
• Administer compensation programs, including salary adjustments, reclassifications, pay plan updates, and annual review cycles.
• Advise managers, HR partners, and senior leaders on classification and compensation policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Review and approve classification recommendations and pay actions to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
• Prepare detailed reports, analyses, and documentation for leadership, audits, and compliance reviews.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the development or revision of related policies and guidelines.
• Ensure data accuracy in HR systems and maintain organized records related to job classification and compensation decisions.
• Provide training and guidance to staff and stakeholders on job analysis, compensation concepts, and policy interpretation.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $67,122 - $117,465

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and at least 4 years of experience in human resources with some experience in an HR lead position.
